Sticks, stones, and ultimatums

More. There’s more.

A group of people who say I must be fired or they will no longer give their time to the organization.

I’m a pathetic leader they have no faith in.

They could have found someone better.

I’m completely incompetent in all I do.

These are not sad comments that have come out of my mouth. They are from people who want me gone from my job. Just because. I have reached and exceeded goals. Luckily, several people spoke up on my behalf. Yet more have torn me up.

Courage is all I’ve got. My only chance is to help the provost see me the way the assoc. provost does.

During this, I feel what I can only describe as agoraphobia. I don’t feel like I can talk to anyone because I am humiliated. As a leader, I risk this – people unhappy with me. Do I have enough courage to keep being a leader?

Don’t ask “why me”? Don’t go down without a fight.

  1. I’ve been thinking of you and wondering how you were doing and how work was going. I meant to email, and I’m so sorry I didn’t follow through.

My heart aches for you. I hope that you can come through this with support from the provost (the assoc provost’s support is hopefully the most important supporter you need in winning the provost’s support). I don’t know enough about what you do, but I do know that in some jobs, it’s impossible to succeed without rubbing some people the wrong way.

Wish I could give you a hug and tell you in person how awesome I think you are.

  2. What is your job?
    What did I miss?
Often, I have found that the loudest complainers are iten the worst contributors to to job/project. They dearest anyone that detracts from their glorious efforts to be noticed.
If you stick it out -I applaud you.
If you leave- I applaud you. It takes ginormous balls to do either.
In the end, you have to consider-life is short. Do you want to spend it with asshkes?

    • You are so right… Life is short.

My biggest fear is losing the house we love.

So far I have stayed. May leave any time.

I appreciate that you believe in me…

  3. Hm, it sounds like we’re working at the same place.

<3 I am so sorry that you have to deal with this. Truly.

  4. This is crazy! And who wants to work at a place with people who don’t like you? Keep your chin up!
