Call for Blog Post Submissions – Patients for a Moment

I am the honored guest blogger hosting the next installment, December 9, 2010, of Patients for a Moment - a blog carnival for and by patients. Patients can be representative of chronic or other illness and or disability.  PFAM is managed by Leslie of Getting Closer to Myself and was founded by blogger Duncan Cross.  Special thanks to both Leslie and Duncan for this opportunity.

With PFAM, approximately every two weeks, a guest blogger poses a topic and requests submissions of posts that address the topic.  The guest blogger reviews the submissions and publishes a post that summarizes and links to the selected posts.  Check out The Road I’m On for the most recent PFAM edition.

As your next host, I am posing the following topic:

The Must-Have List: Supplies, Tools, and Lifestyle Adjustments that Empower Me

Your post will include a list of tangible items – things.

Love and support, while they are definite must-haves – those topics can be saved for future PFAM editions.

This time of year, we can get bombarded by commercialism for things we don’t really need.  Or do some of them have a special value to you as a person with illness/disability?

As persons living with illness and/or disability, there are things we need.  Really need.  And they go far beyond our prescriptions and treatments.  Each of us has a long or short list of products we don’t want to go without because they help us meet our daily goals.

So…. what’s on your list?

Do you love your laptop case because it’s easy to carry?  Has the iPad changed your life?  Maybe a Chia Pet is on your list because it allows you to garden indoors. Does thea photo of a hand writing a list of must-haves Clapper really work?  What about the Slanket vs. the Snuggie?  Does Brand X work for you every time?

But seriously, what electronics; health and beauty; food and nutrition; home and garden; clothing and accessories; tools; fixtures; recreation; and other products are your must-haves?  Why? Anything new you want to try?

Have you discovered an unintended use for any everyday product that improves the quality of your life? (Think Real Simple’s New Uses for Every Day Things)

Let’s focus on information sharing – your must-have could help someone else!

When crafting your post, please feel free to shout-out to the manufacturers and retail establishments that bring you your must-haves.  Please also add any disclaimers if you receive any sort of kick-backs for the rave review. Thanks!

P.S.  All are welcome.  You need not have a specific illness, category of illness, or category of disability to participate.  Your input is valued!

To submit your post, simply e-mail the information below to sickysickerson@gmail.com (that’s me!):

  • Your name (as you would like it to appear)
  • Your blog’s name
  • Your post’s title
  • Your post’s URL

Please be sure to put “PFAM” in the subject line.  I can’t wait to hear from you!

Kindly email me by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, December 5th.

Tomorrow is Cyber Monday and while you’re window shopping for other, your must-have list may come together on its own -  so I expect to receive lots of submissions!

With support and gratitude,

-Q
