So the tears and tear are gone.
My Gastro doc’s office called to let me know that my fissure was healed prior to the colonoscopy.
Though Dr. PCP states that the pain I am feeling may mean the fissure has broken open again. I’m talking about an anal fissure here. Something difficult to talk about but I’ve got a lot going on in that region.
I saw Dr. PCP yesterday. I had to complete a physical for my HMO and got a chance to briefly speak with her about the colonoscopy and EGD.
As far as my physical goes, my cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure are all good. My triglycerides are higher than ever. I have a history of high triglycerides, even at my most modest weight. Speaking of weight, I can definitely feel confident in stating that I have severe difficulty losing weight. Even after three days of a clear liquid diet and very little food intake for the past few weeks (average of less than 1,100 calories/day), the scale has not moved. Dr. PCP recognizes this and had my blood drawn to test for possible insulin resistance. It’s nice having a PCP who knows I have not always been overweight. I have been prescribed Lovaza – it’s fish oil created to lower triglycerides. A typical patient receiving this prescription would have more than double my level of triglycerides. I’m look forward to taking it with the knowledge that fish oil has many benefits.
As for my EGD and colonoscopy, not much information yet. I do know that I had a rectal polyp removed and I have a presence of diverticula. Dr. PCP states we will not know more until the biopsy comes back. Even about IBD? Yes, even about IBD. With delays due to the holiday and my PCP’s vacation, I won’t know anything for some time. It’s somewhat of a let down to not know anything before the end of the year. My employer stressed that I was to “get myself better in December so you (I) can come back 100% in January.”
Nothing like work pressure to freak a person out right before the holidays. Oh, and my new hire declined the job. ?@#&*!
I was hoping that the end of the year would bring some feelings of closure in relation to my health. It’s just not the way it has gone. And, I’m a little crushed.
Not majorly or anything. Just somewhat. Ok, I’m nearly majorly crushed that 2009 is ending and I’m no closer to a treatment than I was at the end of 2008.
