I can’t help but feel pretty good today.
The only problem is that in the declining economic climate no one wants to hear my news but I will say it anyway. I got an 8% raise today! Totally out of the blue. I did not ask for a wage adjustment and it’s not merit increase time. Yahoo!! This is my second salary increase in 9 months.
I feel very fortunate. It is quite timely as this weekend, we opened a savings account and the exact amount we planned to have directly deposited from my paycheck to the savings account is what my increase is. I have to remind myself that this happening. This is good news. Though I can’t help but wonder – how the hell have I been able to demonstrate that I deserve a raise while managing all the medical appointments, ailm
ents, etc.? Wow. It’s amazing what we can do to get by.
My AFO and I were surprsingly well-received at work today. Everyone asked about it but it has a much better connotation than a granny cane. I was even told “you wear it well”. The sparkle in my eye from my self-pride didn’t hurt either.
