Well, my father's favorite movie is "On the Waterfront"
From the looks of the letter I received from my insurance, seeing a physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor (physiatrist) requires that I pay a deductible. That appointment was so not worth $275 at all. She did nothing for me. I’m a bit frustrated. I felt like she rushed me into going to the Orthotics place for my AFO and now I learn it may be $900 and not covered under my insurance. On June 2, I could be told I need something totally different. This is not how I want to spend my money.
My father is a kind-hearted yet totally undependable soul. In his kind-heartedness, he told me today that he feels that whatever is wrong with my leg is something I can “fight through”. “If anyone can fight through it, it’s you,” he said. I appreciate his vote of confidence though I don’t know there is anything to fight. Can you fight a physiological neurological problem? I suppose if you can, I’m a contender.
Today, I did not use my cane at work. This is not unusual, some days are better than others. But today – by the end of the day, my leg was dragging worse than I have ever seen. I really was worried for my safety. With every step, I took a deep breath and sighed with relief that I was still standing.
My friend, Susan, mentioned a show called “Mystery Diagnosis” to me. She actually found out a lot about her health condition from an episode. I see that it is on tonight and I want to check it out. And I hope against hope that some time I ‘ll see an episode that will shed some light on my problem.
